Job Title: Accounting Clerk Department: NFR Fiscal
Status: Non-exempt, Hourly Full-Time Salary Scale: GS 3-4 (2018 RUS) $26,587 – $38,798
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Clerk performs professional clerical and accounting work of technical nature operating a computerized accounting system involving a broad range of record keeping functions and performs related work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Type letters, memoranda, reports, lists, certificates, and other materials.
Clearly and respectfully communicates with staff, vendors and other stakeholders.
Verifies supporting documents with proper signatures and authorization for all transactions for accounts payables.
Prepare and process accounts payable through the computerized accounting system.
Performs follow-up action on memorandum, letter, telephone or personal inquiries from vendors and clients/citizens regarding status of payments.
Informs the Chief Financial Officer of problems related to processing accounts payable.
Scans and labels all documents appropriately into document software system pertaining to all Fiscal functions including accounts payable, payroll, payroll tax deposits, payroll tax forms and general ledger entries.
Files and maintains accounting documents including accounts payable, payroll, payroll tax payments and general ledger entries.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Maintain a positive attitude, pleasant, and professional demeanor while receiving and properly carrying out directives.
Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures utilized in accounting systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
Have moderate to strong knowledge of working with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to correctly analyze and classify documents and maintain accurate financial records.
Ability to operate complex computerized systems.
Basic knowledge of procedures and terminology related to a general ledge accounting system.
Ability to operate a ten-key at a rate sufficient to perform the duties of this position.
Capable of analyzing and processing financial data and make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.
Perform in a manner which positively impacts the image and credibility of the North Fork Rancheria and maintain effective communication with all segments of society.
Adhere to the confidentiality and code of conduct policies; maintain objectivity in all business and confidential matters.
Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Basic knowledge of Native American communities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of prior accounting experience OR one (1) year college credits toward an AA or BS degree in accounting OR one (1) year experience in general office work with specific experience in data processing and excel spreadsheets or a combination of education and experience.
A High School Diploma or GED required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is primarily sedentary and is generally performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs, and manual dexterity. Makes extensive use of standard office equipment including computers, keyboards, 10-key calculator, telephones and copiers. Occasionally requires
lifting and carrying materials weighing twenty-five or more pounds.
