The purpose of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is to provide culturally tailored services required and necessary to serve the needs of tribal families and tribal children involved with the children welfare system or who have been affected by displacement or the removal of an Indian child. DCFS’s unique services are an integral part to the reunification of children with their parents or Indian Custodians. Young parents, grandparents, or victims of domestic violence in need of support for children also benefit from the services provided by DCFS. In addition to the advocacy we provide within the Juvenile Dependency court system, DCFS has the ability to facilitate court ordered and personal enrichment classes that include, but are limited to domestic violence and batterers intervention, healthy relationships, positive Indian parenting and more.
